Well after a nice break where I got home most nights, I am back on the road!
My weekly journey is now from Home (London) to Brussels. Mainly because of timing I am out on Eurostar Mondays and back on Fridays by plane.
So brief thoughts after a week:
I still love Eurostar. Despite being a longer journey, there is a lot less wasted time and a lot less stress. Security is still a pain, but it is ALL up front and the Eurostar people are as polite a possible under the circumstances. Try saying the same about any airport security staff.
Brussels public transport is comprehensive. However, it is quite possible to be in a location where you have to get on a Tram, to get to a Metro station, to buy a ticket for the Tram!
Oh and while you are buying your ticket, you had better have coins. Why is it that even the US has reliable machines to validate a dollar bill, but Belgium machines only take coins or payment cards that require a Belgian bank account. This is a country that pretty much lives off of foreigners!
Tell me what day it is and I will tell you where I am
